Glider Contests Manager require registration for use. To register click on the menu
'Register'. You will be asked for a username, which will be the one that will appear in the pilots and/or timers listings, and an email address. This email address must be valid, as a confirmation email will be sent to you. The password must include at least one capital letter and at least one number.
The registration is unique, and serves for any further use of the application, for any contest.
Once the registration is done and the email is confirmed, you can access the application by clicking on the menu
'Login'. You will be asked for your username or email address and password. By default, 'Remember account?' is checked, so you will be automatically logged into future connections. You can also click on
'Forgot password?'
to receive an email with instructions for resetting the password.
After logging in, the 'Register' menu is replaced by the user name. By clicking on the name, you can access the page
'Manage account settings'
which allows you to change your username, email address, PIN or password. If you change the
username, registrations as a timer or pilot prior to the change will remain under the old name (and the classifications of competitions already held). However, in future registrations, the new user name will appear.
In addition to being able to access through the link
'Contest list', this page is accessed by default when starting the application. The application will give you the choice between 'All contests' (all contests except those marked as private are listed) and 'My contests' (contests in which you participate as a pilot or as a timer, and contests for which you are the organizer, whether private or not, are listed).
'Contests' :
If you are an organizer, it shows you a button
. Click it to create a new contest.
In the right column of each contest you can see some of the following icons:
- Only appear if you are the organizer of that contest. Gives you access to the 'Organize Contest' page.
- Shows the pilots already registered in the contest. It will only be visible before the contest.
- If that contest is open for pilot registration, it will give you access to the 'Register for competition' page.
- If you are enrolled for this contest, you can cancel your registration in the contest.
- If the group draw has already taken place, it allows you to view the pilot draw for groups and tasks, on the page 'Rounds draw'.
- If there are already scores, pressing this button will take you to the 'General Scores' page.
- Only appear if you are the organizer of that contest. Contest is marked as deleted, so it will not appear in the contest list, except for the organizer.
- Only appear if you are the organizer of that contest and that contest has been marked as deleted. Restores a previously deleted contest, so it will reappear in the contest list.
'Leagues' :
If you are an organizer, it shows you a button
. Click it to create a new league.
In the right column of each league you can see some of the following icons:
- Only appear if you are the organizer of that league. Gives you access to the 'Organize league' page.
- If there are already scores, pressing this button will take you to the 'League Scores' page.
- Only appear if you are the organizer of that league. League is marked as deleted, so it will not appear in the league list, except for the organizer.
- Only appear if you are the organizer of that league and that league has been marked as deleted. Restores a previously deleted league, so it will reappear in the league list.
You can only access this page if you are an organizer. If you don't get it, send me an email and I'll active it to you.
After having clicked on the button
, from the 'Contest list' page, you can access the 'Create Contest' page. Fill in the fields 'Name', 'Venue' and 'Date', and if you want set the contest options. You can change these settings later. Press
. A PIN number will appear. This PIN number will allow the organization to enter scores later (e.g. if there are not enough timers and the organization must provide an additional timer).
Contests may have the following options:
'Private' : the contest will not appear in the contest list, except for users who are pilots, timers or organizers of that contest. This option is recommended for training sessions, small local competitions for which you do not want to register any pilot, etc..
'Signed with PIN' : if this option is selected, on the 'Input data' page the pilot and the timer have to enter the PIN that serves as 'signature'. As will be seen below, on the 'Input data' page both the pilot and the timer have to enter their PIN to serve as the' signature' of the score. With this 'signature' the pilot accepts the data entered as valid and prevents another user from altering the scores. Obviously, in a training or informal contest this is not necessary.
'Pilots are timers' : by selecting this option, when drawing pilots by groups, each pilot will be assigned a place as timer in a group in which he does not fly. This is useful in official competitions where there is no external timer, and where the pilots themselves act as timers when they do not fly. If you select this option, the 'Timers' tab disappears, as it is not necessary.
'Only Timers are allowed to enter scores': this option prevents pilots from entering scores. When enabled, only timers (and organizer) can enter scores. It is only visible and selectable if it is a contest without PIN signatures and the pilots themselves are not acting as timers.
Open Enrollment' : finally, once the contest is set up, select this option when you want to open the enrollment period. Remember that if the contest is private, it will not appear in the list of contests, so pilots can only register by invitation by QR code (or BIDI) (see below) or be entered manually by the organizer (see also below).
Selecting'Open Enrollment' displays the button
. By pressing this button you get an image with a QR code (BIDI) that can be sent to those users you want to invite.
Instead, when you deactivate 'Open enrollment', you see the button
. If the rounds have already been drawn, the buttons you see are
,
and
. The latter leads to the page 'View Draw'.
'Pilots' tab: When you click this tab, the list of registered pilots is displayed. Next to each pilot, a button
is displayed, which allows you to edit the name or frequency of the pilot, and a button
to unsubscribe the pilot. On this tab there is also a button
, which gives access to the'Add pilot' page. There's also a button
to download the list of pilots in PDF format, and a button
to update the list.
'Timers' tab: Similar to the 'Pilots' tab, this tab shows the list of registered timers. Next to each timer, a button
is displayed, to de-register the timer. On this tab there is also a button
, which gives access to the 'Add timer' page. There's also a button
to download the list of timers in PDF format, and a button
to update the list.
You can only access this page if you are an organizer. If you don't get it, send me an email and I'll active it to you.
After having clicked on the button
, from the 'Contest list' page, you can access the 'Create League' page. Fill in the field 'Name' and if you want set the league options. You can change these settings later. Press
.
Leagues may have the following options:
'Proportional' : in each contest, 1000 points will be awarded to the first classified, and to the others proportionally according to their score in the contest on the basis of 1000 points.
'Absolute 1' : in each contest 25 points will be awarded to the first classified, 20 to the second, 16 to the third, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 to the fifteenth. From sixteenth onwards the score is 0.
'Absolute 2' : in each contest 25 points will be awarded to the first classified, 22 to the second, 19 to the third, 17, 15, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 to the eighteenth. From nineteenth onwards the score is 0.
The league score will be the sum of the scores in each contest, deducting (if applicable) one, two or three contests.
In this page you see the list of the groups and tasks that have been drawn. If you have to participate in this group as a pilot, a mark will appear, and if you have to participate as timer, a mark appears.
In each group, the duration (if it is an F5J contest) or the task (if it is an F3K or F5K contest) is displayed. If you click on any of the rows, the pilots participating in that group, their corresponding timer (if the pilots themselves are also timers) and if it is an F5J or F5K contest, the point or line from which they should take off are shown.
Also, if you are the organizer of that contest you will see a button
which allows you to change that pilot from group or round. Obviously, you can only change that pilot to a group that he has not been previously allocated in. It is useful when a pilot asks for a refly and there is a group behind him. If there is no group behind him, he can be scored on the next round, but the score will count towards the original heat. Please note that if it is an F3K contest you will have to keep an eye on the task, and change it to a round with the same task as the original one.
Above right, there are three of four buttons:
It allows you to download the sheets where the pilots will write down their scores. These sheets have a QR or BIDI code so that pilots can quickly access their input scores page. This button is only visible to the contest organizer.
It allows you to download the rounds and groups with the pilots competing in each one, in PDF format. It is useful for the competition director, and for pilots or timers if they want to have a general table printed.
It allows you to download the rounds and groups with the pilots competing in each one, in CSV format.
Shows how many times each pilot faces each other, to see if the distribution is reasonably matched (it is almost impossible to find a way to match all pilots to each other the same number of times).
Once the registration period is over, you can access this page after disabling 'Open Registration' and clicking on the 'Draw rounds' button on the 'Organize Contest' page.
For F5J contests:
Choose the number of groups in each round, and the rounds to be drawn. Pick 600s of flight time. To do the 'fly-off' create a new contest, pointing out the pilots who have passed to the fly-off and choosing 900s as flight time.
Mixed competitions can be held in which, for example, the first four rounds are 600s and the last two are 900s. For doing this, draw from 1 to 4 selecting 600s, and then draw again but from 5 to 6 selecting 900s. The application will calculate the FAI points according to the regulations for each round, and add up the total (discounting the worst if the number of rounds is more than four).
As of January 1st,2023, FAI rules allow the use of motor-restarting AMRT firmware as a local rule in non-category one competitions. If motor is restarted, the flight score is 0. Until June 1st, this 0 flight score was not droppable from the final score, being droppable from June 1st, 2023 onwards. If we want to make it NOT droppable as it was before June 1st, we will select the check button marked for it.
For F3K and F5K contests:
Also choose the number of rounds to be drawn, but you also have to select which task you want to fly in each round. The mechanism for the fly-off is the same: new contest, introduce the pilots by hand and draw by selecting a single group per task.
For F5K contests:
In addition, you have to choose Nominal Launch Height (NLH).
To make the draw select how many seconds we want the application to be calculating a more distributed draw in terms of matches. The longer the time, the better the deal, but at a point in time, increasing the time does not improve the deal any further. The default 20 seconds is a reasonable time.
If you access this page after having clicked on the 'Re-Draw rounds' button on the 'Organize contest' page you will be able to redo the draw, with different flight times in the case of F5J and different tasks in the case of F3K or F5K. In the case of the F3K or F5K, you can change tasks without having to modify the draw.
You must be very aware that if you re-draw previously drawn rounds, the rounds will be overwritten, and the scores (if any) will be erased. I mean, you shouldn't re-draw a scored round unless you want to erase it for ever.
This page can be accessed by different means:
- From the QR code of the score sheets of each pilot. In this case, the pilot and the round corresponding to the QR used will be loaded by default.
- If the contest is open for entry of scores (enabled by the organizer on the page `organize contest', when the user is the organizer, pilot or timer in that contest when connecting will go directly to this page. If the user is a pilot in the contest, the application will select it directly, and select the first round with no scores entered.
- In any case, pilots, timers and competition organizers have an option in the navigation bar called 'Input data' that brings them to this page.
The first combo allows us to choose the pilot, from the list of pilots sorted by number.
The second combo allows us to choose between the rounds that the pilot selected in the previous combo will do. In other words, when changing pilots in the first combo, the list of tasks and groups in the second combo changes. If it is an F5J contest, it tells us the line from which it should take off, and the duration of flight in that round. If it is F3K, it tells us the task that corresponds to that round.
Immediately below, there are several fields for entering times, altitude, landing, penalty, etc.
If the contest has been marked as 'Signed with PIN', two more lines will appear. In the first one, there is the name of the pilot selected in the first combo box. In the second one, there is a combo box to select the timer who will enter the scores. Next to both, there is a field for entering the pilot and timer PIN, which certifies that both are in agreement with the entered scores and serves as a digital "signature". It is not needed (but you can do it if you want) to enter both signatures at the same time. That is: either the timer or the pilot enters the score and PIN signature on a device. That score is stored, but only when the other one signs (can be later, and can be from another device) that score becomes definitive. If any change in the score is made, the PIN signatures of the judge and driver are required again. Remember that if you have not marked it as 'Signed with PIN' these two lines will not appear.
And finally, underneath there's a button
. I'll let your imagination guess its usefulness.
This page can be accessed by different ways:
- From the navigation bar menu, during the day of the contest date.
- From the "Enter scores" page, once the scores have been entered correctly.
- From the contests list, by pressing the button
- From the page "Scores by round" or from the page "Scores by pilot", by clicking on the button
The page also has three buttons:
- At the top, a button
, which allows us to download the scores in PDF format.
- At the bottom, a button
, to access the page "Scores by round".
- And a button
, to access the page "Scores by pilot".
- And if we are on the day of the contest, and the entry of scores is open, a fourth button
, which takes you to the "Enter scores" page.
Note that the scores for each round will only appear when at least one of the scores for the last group in that round has been entered. That is, if we are in round two of a three-group contest and the scores of the first group have been entered, they will not be displayed until the scores of the third group begin to be entered. This is done to avoid that the pilots of the first group are at a disadvantage with those of the pilots of the other groups, since they could adjust their height cutting strategies by already knowing the results of the previous groups.

Sometimes, due to an error of the timekeeper when taking the times, or in F5J competitions, due to a collision in flight, the pilot has the right to request a refly.
According to the rules, the pilot must fly in this order of preference:
- If there is any group left to fly from the same round, in that group.
- If all the groups of that round have already been flown, creating a new group, by randomly drawing pilots. Participation in the new refly group is voluntary.
- If this is not possible, creating a new group with the same pilots as the original group.
To add the pilot(s) to a subsequent group that has not yet flown:
Go to "View Draw", select the group in which the incident has occurred, locate the pilot who has requested refly, click on the button
and select the target group.
To create a new group:
You can access this page by clicking on the button
on the "Organize competition" page. (This button only becomes visible if "Open introduction of scores" is disabled).
We can see a list of the rounds. Press the button
to select the round from which you want to make the refly.
We see a button for each group in the round, and a button
. We choose one or the other as we create a new group or repeat the group where the incident occurred.
If we clicked on the group, the pilots of that group will be listed. If we have pressed
, an empty list will appear.
We will see a text field where we can enter the name of a pilot we want to add to that group and press the button
. Pilots matching the search criteria will be added to the list. If we want to add pilots by randomly, we will press the button
.
We will repeat the above process as many times as necessary to complete the group. If you want to remove a pilot (for example because he does not want to repeat a flight), do it by pressing the button
When we are satisfied we will press the button
, and then the button
A new group will have been created, in that same round. We can now enter scores in that group. Obviously, it is necessary to remind pilots and timers to select this group and not the original one where the refly incident took place when introducing the new scores.
1- In "Contest list" click on the button
2- Fill in the fields "Name of the competition", "Venue" and "Date".
3- Choose options: "Private", "Signed with PIN", "Pilots are timers", "Only Timers are allowed to enter scores".
4- Press the button
5- Open "Open Enrollment". Leave it open for pilots to register or manually register them in the pilots tab. If there are external timers (the Pilots are NOT timers), in the timers tab add the timers of the contest.
6- Close "Open Enrollement".
7- Press the button
.
8- Choose the number of groups per round and the number of rounds. If it is an F5J contest, choose the duration of the flights. If F3K or F5K, choose the task for each round. In addition, if it is an F5K contest, you have to choose Nominal Launch Height (NLH). Press the button
.
9- Consult the pairing table. If you think it's a reasonable deal (remember that it's almost always impossible to make an absolutely equal deal), press the button
. If you want to try to improve the distribution, press the button
. When you are satisfied and have recorded the contest, press the button
10- Activate "Open introduction of scores". You will see that you can activate all the rounds or one by one, as you prefer. Please note that if you activate all of them, some pilot may mistakenly enter scores on the wrong round. That's okay, because they can be overwritten, but if it's a serious contest and you want to avoid mistakes, you can activate round by round the entry of scores.
11- - At the end of the contest, deactivate the "Open introduction of scores" option.
